Recipe: Korean Ground Beef

PREP TIME: 20 minutes

COOK TIME: 30 minutes

SERVES: 8 people

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef

  • 6 cloves of garlic, crushed

  • 2 Tbs Ginger

  • 1 teaspoon
    red chili flakes

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 4 teaspoons sesame oil

  • 4 cups cooked rice

  • 4 green onions, chopped

  • 1-2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

STEPS:

Prepare Ingredients

Measure each of the ingredients listed and set aside in separate containers.

Make the Sauce

  1. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and red chili flakes.

  2. Set aside.

Cook the Beef

  1. Heat a wok or large skillet on medium heat, until water droplets sizzle.

  2. Add 2 tablespoons sesame oil,

  3. coating pan as it heats up.

  4. Add ginger and garlic.

  5. Cook for 1 minute.

  6. Increase to medium-high heat.

  7. Add the ground beef.

  8. Cook until no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes.

  9. Drain excess grease, if needed.

Prepare the Rice

  1. Use Minute Rice

  2. Measure 4 cups
    of water

  3. Add to pot on stove and bring to a boil.

  4. Once boiling, add 4 cups of rice to water.

  5. Stir and cover, removing from heat.

  6. Set timer for 5 minutes.

  7. Serve.

Finish the Cook

  1. Remix the sauce and pour over the ground beef.

  2. Let this simmer, stirring occasionally, for 3-5 minutes.

  3. Serve with hot rice.

  4. Garnish optionally with green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
